The factory research states that this gun was shipped on October 6th, 1885, as a plain, round barrel rifle, caliber not listed, which usually means a .45-75. This rifle sports an octagonal .45-60 barrel with two line Winchester legend on top of barrel with "Cal 45-60". Breech has some light scroll engraving as does the muzzle. The highly figured walnut stocks were checkered in the Winchester style, nicely and expertly refinished. Features a full tube magazine, German silver tip front sight, flat top sporting rear sight, case color lever and hammer, blue rifle butt plate, and standard blue finish. The brass follower is stamped "45-60". CONDITION: Excellent as upgraded and partially restored. Receiver shows 70% thinning blue blending patina. Some strong nitre blue on loading gate. Barrel retains about 90% blue with sharp edges and legends. Tube is a blue brown patina. Stocks are excellent with light impressions. Bore is defined but with some rough abrasions. Retains some color on hammer and lever. PROVENANCE: Jim Cyr Collection.
