Manufactured in 1889. Classic configuration with octagon barrel, full length magazine tube, blade front sight, semi-buckhorn rear, folding tang peep sight, case hardened receiver, and 2-piece walnut stocks with case hardened crescent rifle butt plate. CONDITION: Very fine. Barrel and magazine retain the vast majority of the fading factory blue which has started to thin at the high edges. Some cleaned oxidation spots present on the bottom of the magazine tube towards the muzzle. Bolt blue is excellent. Receiver retains significant portions of case colors, some areas starting to silver with cleaned oxidation spotting. Remarkably a few areas of original varnish remain under which the case colors remain rich and vibrant. Nose cap and butt plate have turned a spotted silvery patina. Stocks retain much of their original finish with bumps and bruises, as well as a split on the left side of the forend. Strong, well defined bore with some cleaned oxidation spotting. A nice '86. PROVENANCE: Jim Cyr Collection.
