Brass furniture includes an engraved four-piece patchbox with 5 piercings and a typical Bedford County finial. Sideplate also engraved. The figured tiger maple stock is of familiar Bedford County form and has a sleeved wrist and extensive relief carved c-scrolls on the left side of the buttstock on both sides of the molded cheekpiece. There is an engraved silver star inlaid above the cheekpiece and a silver oval inlay on the wrist. There is relief scrollwork carved around the barrel tang as well. Wooden ramrod is a replacement. CONDITION: Barrel retains a brown surface and barrel has had bolster removed and touchhole drilled. Lock is a second lock. There is some replaced wood and restoration on forend, around and below lock and on underside of forearm. A very attractive relief carved Kentucky rifle by a desirable maker.
