Manufactured in 1894. Winchester introduced this cartridge in the Model 1886 in 1894. It is the rarest of all 1886 chamberings with only 862 ever made. This rifle features a full octagon barrel, full tube magazine, German silver tip front sight, single leaf folding rear sight, a 1903 patent Marbles tang sight, a walnut stock with rifle butt plate and matching forearm. The original finish would have been blue and case color frame, lever and hammer. CONDITION: Very good. There is no original finish visibly remaining. The gun is now an even dull gun metal grey with age freckling. The Winchester two line legend on top of barrel is strong. The stocks are proud to metal with some minor dings, impressions and finish loss but very solid and presentable. The bore is strongly defined but frosted with very minor abrasion. This is a very honest old Winchester in a nearly impossible to find caliber. PROVENANCE: Jim Cyr Collection.
