Manufactured in 1886. Standard rifle with full round barrel and tube magazine, blue finish, walnut stock with rifle butt plate and matching forearm. The best part of this rifle are the sights. The front sight is a small post with a skeletal cut out hood not listed in Madis book. The rear sight is a standard semi buckhorn that was added and retains too much blue along with the tang sight which is the Model 62B, a very rare sight made specifically for the Model 1873. CONDITION: Very good. The frame has been cleaned to grey. The barrel and tube are smooth patina. Stocks are flush and show usual scattered dings and impressions, a small chip at right butt and finish loss. The two line Winchester barrel legend is crisp. Caliber engraving on brass lifter is also strong. Fine action with a well defined bore that shows some abrasion. PROVENANCE: Jim Cyr Collection.
