Manufactured in 1911. The barrel is stamped "THE NEW DAISY CARBINE" along with standard left side Winchester legends and rear tang legends. This was a factory special order stamp applied to carbines destined for retail outfitters Lassetter & Lassetter Company in Australia. At the beginning of the twentieth century, F. Lassetter & Co, known as Lassetter's, was one of the largest and oldest retailers in Sydney. This similar practice was used by B. Kittredge & Co. in Cincinnati, Ohio on their Colt double action revolvers such as the Omnipotent 1878. There are no visible Australian proofs or import stamps. Balance of gun is simply a special order 1892 carbine with a button magazine, post front sight, ladder rear sight, blue finish, walnut stock with metal carbine butt plate and matching forearm. CONDITION: Very good. Almost any gun sent to Australia saw hard use and this is no exception There is some bright blue on loading gate as well as the protected areas of barrel, otherwise, metal is patina with age freckles. The stock is flush to metal with scattered dings, impressions and some dark spotting. Forearm is in same condition. Action works fine. Bore is defined but frosted with some abrasions. Very difficult to locate with this special legend. PROVENANCE: Jim Cyr Collection.
