Manufactured circa 1917. Highly desirable 16" trapper configuration with round barrel chambered in .25-35 WCF, full length magazine tube retained by a pair of carbine bands, tall German silver blade front sight, and ladder rear sight missing the elevator. Solid frame with saddle ring. As is correct for 16" trappers it is fitted with a standard carbine forend. Walnut buttstock features incise carved Native American decorations on each side as well as brass roundels. Steel carbine butt plate without trap. CONDITION: Good,showing heavy but honest Western wear as found in Oregon. Blued finish has largely faded to patina with wear and some evidence of cleaned oxidation. Wood has a dry, aged appearance with numerous dings and abrasions throughout, as well as minor splits at the wrist and heel. Lightly frosted bore with strong, well defined rifling. Fine mechanics. A very scarce trapper carbine exhibiting outstanding Western character. PROVENANCE: Jim Cyr Collection.
