There is plenty of coverage on the Schrade Cutlery Company 1904-1946 of Walden, New York, pages 116-130 of "Antique American Switchblades". Two of these knives are listed on page 126 as the 4 1/4" singles Model 1553. One is on page 127 listed as the 4 7/8" single Model 1543. All have stagged celluloid handles (much harder to find than stag), steel liners and bolsters and are marked on one side with Schrade Walden. All have the sliding lock on left side. All open and lock correctly. One has the lanyard ring. CONDITION: Excellent. All handles are chip and crack free. All of the blades have been cleaned or sharpened. PROVENANCE: From a single consignor life long collection. A great many of these knives were obtained from Mark Erikson and many are pictured in his book "Antique American Switchblades" published in 2004.
