Manufactured by Tryon in Philadelphia, PA and dated 1845 on lock. Front sight is a small brass blade, with simple "V" notch rear sight, brass mountings, and brass implement compartment in stock. Barrel is marked with "JCB" cartouche and "P" proofmark near breech. Left flat of stock opposite lock is marked with "WAT" and "JCB" inspector cartouches and the number 28 between them, probably a rack number. Buttplate is marked "US". CONDITION: Good, with iron assemblies turned a freckled brown patina with evidence of heavy use near breech. Brass components are a mellow patina. Stock has a large repaired crack through the wrist, which is now stable, and shows heavy wear near breech. Mechanically fine. Bore is dark with well worn rifling.
