Manufactured at Richmond Armory in 1864 in standard configuration throughout. Barrel is of the Richmond produced type, with correct sight cut, however barrel date near breech is illegible to fully determine whether it is an M1855 barrel or a Richmond produced barrel. Lock mortise is correctly not cut for Maynard Tape Priming Device. Iron barrel bands with brass nosecap and brass buttplate. CONDITION: Fair, with areas of heavy repair such as new breech installed, wood filler to reshape lock mortise, and piece of wood about 1" in length installed in stock wrist near hammer. Right lock retaining screw is a replacement. Ramrod head was broken off and was glued back on, and is now loose. Mechanically needs attention as hammer does not hold on half or full cock. Bore is dark with visible 3 groove rifling.
