Manufactured in 1861 in England and subsequently sold and marked for Confederate use in the Civil War in standard configuration. Confederate import markings include "1011" observed on the buttplate, "S" (W. & C. Scott furnisher) near buttplate tang, and "JS / (anchor) near trigger guard tang. Left and right sides of stock are non-factory marked with "CWW" initials. CONDITION: Fair, with iron assemblies turned an even dark brown patina with signs of heavy use near cone and bolster. Bayonet lug, sling eye, and ramrod are replacements. Stock has been lightly sanded in an effort to clearly see the markings, with markings faint but overall legible. Stock has pieces missing near bolster and barrel tang on right side. Mechanically well worn as hammer has 2 soft stops at half and full cock, and will not stay on full cock. Bore is dark and has been bored out to smooth.
