Lot consists of: (A) April 3, 1776, commission of John Adams, Gentleman, as first lieutenant in the 9th Company, Johnson’s 4th Regiment of Essex County militia. Signed by Benjamin Lincoln and James Otis. Adams served in the Lexington Alarm, Siege of Boston, and Saratoga, where his regiment fought on Bemis Heights in Warner’s Brigade. Staining; small tears at fold lines. Framed and matted. (B) French & Indian War pay request by William Fagins to Capt. Gallop, 12th Regiment, involved in the campaign of 1757. Stains and worn edges. (C) June 27, 1757, certification of a lieutenant's employment to receive half-pay military allowance. Bold ink with light stains; visible watermark. (D) November 24, 1765, British military return of troop strength at Fort Oswegatchie, NY, signed by a 60th Regiment lieutenant. Bold ink; light stains. (E) September 10, 1755, Lebanon CT, order to impress a gun for the expedition against Crown Point under General Johnson. Bold ink; yellowing. (F) January 9, 1760, French & Indian War court proceedings against a soldier refusing to join Israel Putnam’s company in 1759. Bold writing; yellowing. (G) August 16, 1782, order to publish promotions signed by Col. Benjamin Tupper, who has an illustrious history in both the French & Indian War and the Revolutionary War. Fading to ink; some stains, edge wear. CONDITION: Good-very good.
