Manufactured in 1892. Features a full round barrel, full length magazine tube, Marble's front sight, flat top rear sight, takedown, blue finish, and walnut stock with rifle buttplate and matching forearm. This rifle was returned to the factory sometime after 1905 as there is a PW stamp on the receiver but not on the barrel. The tang does not have any Winchester legend, nor is there any sign of it having been ground off. The barrel legend has the words Patented & October 14, 1884 spelled out which is not a typical first year barrel stamp. CONDITION: Very good. While there are some flashes of blue on the tube, balance of metal is a smooth light brown patina with some evidence of wiped-on finish on receiver that was cleaned. Winchester barrel legends are strong. Stock is proud to metal with scattered dings and impressions with hairline at right upper tang. Buttplate has been polished clean. Action is fine. Bore is well defined but frosted. PROVENANCE: Jim Cyr Collection.
