An exquisite axial locking knife by Paul Poehlmann. Poehlmann made fewer than 200 knives. Becoming famous for inventing the axial locking mechanism, he owns more than 20 patents for locking knives. The knife features a 3" blade that is crafted of hand rubbed satin finished 154CM steel that is marked "Paul" on obverse ricasso and "18" on reverse. Frame is constructed of 416 stainless steel with 24K gold build up. The frame is elegantly engraved with captivating scroll work and features a Native American Warrior on obverse with a buffalo war bonnet on reverse. Obverse frame is signed by engraver Ron Skaggs and marked "ENG R.E. SKAGGS". Locking mechanism is marked "U.S. PAT. / 3942249". The knife displays excellently with minimal wear. CONDITION: Excellent.
