SSP. Sign one of an incredible piece of Pontiac & St. Louis history. This factory made Porcelain & Stainless Steel Neon Sign was removed from Vincel Pontiac Dealership in 1984 with included photo documentation of the Sign hung in its original setting above the windows of the dealership as well as documentation of the day they were original removed. CONDITION: Sign is in all original condition appearing to have never been cleaned since removal. Sign shows tarnish staining along the entire outer edge of the porcelain but appears removable if desired. Sign is two pieces and is free of any chipping and shows large tubed white & red neon throughout the Native American figure as well as along the entire outer border. The original stainless steel can is also in excellent condition showing no notable wear other than some minor age tarnish. The back access panel shows some rusting and wear but is free of any notable damage. What an incredible piece of all original Pontiac signage with phenomenal photo documentation and photo provenance. Pontiac automobile chose this portrait of Chief Pontiac of the Ottawa who was in upstate Michigan in New York in the mid-1700s. A well respected revolutionary period chief. Pontiac automobile adopted that logo in 1931. These signs date from 1931 to 32 and made by Missouri Jewelite.
