3 - 1/4” Length. Appearing in The Heddon Legacy at the top of page 66, the book highlights some of this bait’s more historically important characteristics. Heddon felt that the external hanging belly weight was a superior bait feature in that it could be adjusted; however, this feature was gone on this model by 1903, just one year later. This belly weight appears original and is a treasure in itself. Also, the factory prop is the earliest found on Underwater Experts, with a rounded tip, bowtie-shaped appearance as opposed to the long, sweeping props produced later that year. Indeed it is likely this bait was produced in the first couple months of Heddon production in 1902. Gold-washed caps and cups with brass hangers and line tie. The hooks appear original and the paint is Good Plus or better. We know that at the moment, this bait is 122 years old, and The Legacy book estimates this is one of only three known examples.
