Remington started out making these guns in the .44 Remington caliber. It would become an obsolete caliber by 1890. They would later go on to make them in .44-40 and .45 Government. This gun has a single line address on top of the barrel, "E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILLION, N.Y. U.S.A." It reads from the muzzle to the frame. .44 caliber marking on the left rear trigger bow. and the serial number is under the grip on the left side of the grip strap. Two piece varnished wood grips. The front sight has been replaced. CONDITION: This gun retains the vast majority of the re-applied nickel finish. There is some flaking at the muzzle and the cylinder. Grips still have the majority of the varnish on them. They do show some wear from use. Dark bore with some light pitting in the lands and grooves.
