After the Mauser plant was occupied in 1945, the French continued production of K98 rifles between August 1945 and May 1946. Barrel is German production with Mauser eagle over "135" firing proof. Standard blade front sight and tangent rear. Receiver marked on the left with French star. Late war red glue laminate stock with both standard German style sling cut and French sling bar. Mounts are stamped and include a scarce stacking rod and cupped butt plate with bolt take down hole. Mixed numbers. No visible import marks. Includes Israeli leather sling. CONDITION: Good. Traces of arsenal blue are retained, the balance faded to a gray patina. Stock has scattered impressions and dings with a coat of added finish. Well defined bore. Fine mechanics. A very scarce K98 variant.
