Modeled after the bowie knives exported by Broomhead & Thomas during the Federal Period, this miniature bowie knife was crafted by Dan Osterman.
3 - 3/8" blade with a hole and notch for cutting line. Blade is marked "BROOMHEAD & THOMAS / CELEBRATED AMERICAN / HUNTING KNIFE" on ricasso and "D.E.O." on the spine. German silver guard, frame, and pommel. Mother of pearl grip scales with escutcheons on each side. Housed in a Moroccan leather scabbard with silvered mounts. Housed in a walnut case with silvered oval escutcheon. Light handling wear. CONDITION: Excellent. PROVENANCE: From the collection of Frank Brownell.
