Modeled after the bowie knives exported by Ibbotson Peace & Company during the Federal Period, this miniature bowie knife was crafted by Dan Osterman. 2 - 7/8" blade marked "Ibbotson Peace & Co. / Sheffield" on ricasso and "D.E.O." on spine. Silvered guard, ferrule, and pommel. Checkered wood grip with silver escutcheon. Moroccan leather scabbard with silvered mounts. Housed in a walnut case with silvered oval escutcheon on lid. Light handling marks. CONDITION: Excellent. PROVENANCE: From the collection of Frank Brownell.
