This gun falls into the correct serial number range and has the following features: there is the U.S. stamp on left side of frame with "MOD 520-30" with a "P" over bomb near breech; there are two proof P stamps at barrel breech with bomb on right side along with Stevens legend; proper heat shield/bayonet lug has the purple hue at face with six rows of holes, no visible S stamp, but the condition is far too nice for balance of gun which indicates it is an original, but not the original that would have been issued with this gun. Like all Model 520s, this could have been a riot gun that had shield and swivels added at later date. The pistol grip walnut stock is rather crudely fitted at wrist and was altered or replaced but the correct square cut for rear swivel is present along with standard black plastic butt plate. Could have been field fitted at the time and there are no cartouche stamps. The GI steel frog sling is actually two slings put together. CONDITION: Very good. The receiver shows flashes of blue, but the majority of the metal is patina, while the guard is 95%, showing toning and handling wear. The stocks are very good with usual scattered dings and dents. Bore shows some abrasions. Action works fine.
