This is a 3nd model, 6th type with three screw frame and five groove rifling. Features an octagon barrel , six shot, single action, large brass trigger guard, two piece walnut grips, dove tail front sight and blue finish. Top of barrel wears the E. WHITNEY N. HAVEN legend. The Whitney Navy revolver holds a place in American history as the weapon used on April 14, 1864 by Lewis Powell (Lewis Payne), a confederate soldier involved with the assignation of Lincoln and at that same moment, attacked Secretary of State William H. Seward, his two sons and George Robinson, a sergeant in the 8th Maine Regiment, with revolver and a Rio Grande Bowie knife. Revolver comes with a brass two cavity unmarked bullet mold. CONDITION: Good. No original finish visible, now just a grey patina. There are striations on both sides of barrel. Grips have pencil serial number inside visible but not legible. Action works fine. Bore is well defined but has abrasions.
