Approximately 21,676 M1911 pistols were manufactured by Remington-UMC per government WWI contract as licensed by Colt during 1918-1919. This is a near perfect rendition of this famous contract WWI 1911. Standard war time blue finish, long smooth trigger, flat main spring housing with lanyard, diamond checkered walnut grips, checkered slide stop and safety, checkered wide spur hammer, bevel edge u-notch rear sight. The left side of slide has the Remington UMC circular legend "MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTON ARMS UMC CO. INC. BRIDGEPORT , CONN USA" Left side of frame has the EEC inspector stamp (Edmund Chapman) along with eagle head. Left side of frame also stamped UNITED STATES PROPERTY. Right side of slide is stamped MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY CALIBER .45. Right side of frame has the Turnbull legend. Gun comes with two tempered magazines in case with paperwork. CONDITION: Excellent. Shows as near new.
