Manufactured in Yonkers, New York from 1862-1865. This carbine is stamped with the Starr legend on barrel, frame, and side plate. Features a round barrel, post front sight, single leaf rear sight, brass barrel band and buttplate, saddle ring and stud, and walnut stock with matching forearm. Issued to several cavalry groups including the 5th Kansas, 11th Missouri, 24th New York, and 1st Arkansas which were so marked; this one with no such markings. CONDITION: Very good. Stock has a 2" break at toe but all still present along with some scattered dings, mostly on forearm. Receiver shows no case color and has turned patina with some evidence of cleaning on right side. Barrel retains flashes of blue but essentially patina with scattered age freckling and some spots of pitting. Bore is strong and bright.
