Often referred to as the John Browns Sharps carbine, this example falls into the Kansas 400 but is not listed as one of the documented examples. This carbine has the early Type I long bar with ring, brass barrel band, patchbox, and buttplate, round barrel, post front sight, and a period replaced rear sight. While made for Sharps by R.L. Lawrence of Windsor, Vermont, the barrel has Sharps Hartford legend as does both sides of the receiver with patent dates. CONDITION: Good. Brass has been cleaned. Balance of metal is grey with remains of varnish over metal. All legends are clear. Stock is solid but displays numerous dings and dents as does forearm. Fine working order. Bore is sharp and almost bright.
