Manufactured at the Merrimack Arms Co. in Newburyport, Massachusetts, circa 1867-1869. Matching serial number on barrel, receiver, inside forearm, and on nickel plated tip. Could not remove stock bolt to check number but stock fits perfectly and has the same piano finish with deluxe grain walnut. Features a blued octagon barrel, small dovetail front sight, two leaf folding rear sight, tang sight, and manual case extractor at base of forearm. Maker patent legend on left side of receiver. Barrel breech is stamped "No 44". CONDITION: Fine. The case color frame has patterned out. Barrel retains the majority of blue with sharp edges showing some age freckles. The wood is proud to metal, has lovely grain, a piano finish with scattered handling marks and impressions. Bore is bright and the action crisp. This is a sharp .44 rifle.
