Made at the Springfield Armory under agreement with Remington. These were produced in 1871-1872 with about 10,000 made. The left side of the receiver is stamped Model 1871 while right side reads "US SPRINGFIELD 1872". All metal was factory finished in-the-white with exception to the case color receiver. Standard features include two bands, post front sight, cleaning rod, blued folding ladder rear sight, and walnut stock with near full length forearm. Buttplate is stamped "US". Left side of stock has the ESA cartouche for Erskine Allin. CONDITION: Excellent. There are no case colors and receiver is now a dull grey. Balance of metal is bright with areas of age freckling. Legends are sharp. The stock is solid, shows some average dings with some areas of varnish. Forearm is in similar condition. Bore is bright with a crisp action.
