Both guns in this outstanding double cased set were made in 1861. (A) The first revolver is an 1862 Police sporting a round barrel, post front and a V notch rear sight on hammer, five shot fluted & rebated cylinder, matching serial numbers on the barrel assembly, frame, trigger guard, back strap, grips and the arbor. The wedge is numbered 91677. One piece varnished walnut grips. Silver plated brass trigger guard and backstrap. CONDITION: This gun retains majority of the original factory applied finish. The barrel ( approximately 20-30%)and cylinder (20-30%) show some strong blue in the protected areas. The frame, loading lever and hammer have majority (approximately 50-60%)of the vibrant case color with just a bit of silvering. The silver plating shows some wear but still retains flashes on the trigger guard and backstrap. The grips fit this gun extremely well and have most of the original varnish. Good bore with well defined lands and grooves with just some very light frosting. (B) 1862 Pocket Navy sports an octagonal barrel, post front and V notch rear sight on the hammer. Round five shot rebated cylinder with a roll engraved stage coach scene. One piece varnished wood grip. Matching serial numbers on the barrel assembly, frame, trigger guard, back strap wedge, grips, cylinder and arbor. CONDITION: This gun retains majority of the original factory applied brilliant blue finish (approximately 75-85%) on the barrel assembly. The cylinder has some strong blue (10-20%) in the protected areas. The frame, loading lever and the hammer display about 20% vibrant case colors in the protected areas with the remainder turning silver. The trigger guard and back strap have strong flashes of silver plate in the protected areas. Grips show some handling marks but fit the gun very well. The period case has a blue fitted interior that houses a powder flask, bullet mold, cap tin, a few loose balls and bullets and a pack of 6 combustible cartridges. The case shows some storage wear and the cloth has faded a bit. A very desirable double cased set of Civil War era percussion revolvers that appear to have been paired and cased in the period as both were made in the same year.
