This is a Navy model made from 1861 through the war by Savage in Middletown, CT. There is no anchor on the barrel nor are there any visible cartouche stamps on the grips but there are C & W government inspector stamps. The top strap has the Savage legend. Was originally blue now patina with two piece walnut grips and an octagon barrel. Matching numbers on frame, side plate and barrel. Cylinder is number 12608. CONDITION: Very good. All metal is patina with the cylinder taking on a nickel appearance. Grips are very good but shy to metal at back strap. Gun indexes and operates correctly. Bore is well defined but frosted with minor abrasion. Hard to find decent examples of this unusual Civil War revolver.
