Circa 1913 per "British Gunmakers: Volume One - London" by Brown. Dovetail lump barrels with bead front sight (missing actual composite bead) engraved "Joseph Lang & Son. 102, New Bond Street London" and "Abercrombie & Fitch Co, New York. U.S.A." on tubes over chambers. Fit with a smooth, concave rib with sprig of engraving at breech end, while breeches are engraved with stiff leaf engraving. Underside of tubes engraved "For 2 3/4 Shell" next to forearm lump, and further stamped "ABB". Barrel flats with British nitro proofs for a choked 12 gauge with 1 - 1/8 oz of shot; ahead of flats is J.L & S barrel marking for Joseph Lang & Son and matching serial numbers. Fit with ejectors. Somewhat flat splinter forearm with a reinforced Anson plunger release, checkered in a borderless point pattern, with light floral engraving on exterior case colored iron, interior with matching serial number. Richly case colored keylock action with wrigglework borders and golden vignettes of a spaniel in a marsh on left plate, a pointer and a spaniel on the right, and a bust of spaniel on bottom, engraved "Joseph Lang & Son" at bar, and fit with gold line cocking indicators. Automatic safety with "SAFE" inlaid ahead of slide. Single mechanical trigger. English straight grip walnut of a ripple grain with point pattern checkering about the wrist, tear drops, and a Pachmayr orange recoil pad. Housed in a canvas wrapped case with maroon lining and a Joseph Lang & Son trade label in lid and housing accessories including pair snapcaps, brush and mop, square oil bottle, turnscrew with head filed down, and a key for keylock, also somewhat filed. CONDITION: Excellent as professionally restored, retaining virtually all of the finishes, with some superficial handling marks and scratches, some silvered. Case colors excellent with silvering to sharpest edges. Stocks excellent with some minor handling marks and impressions. Case very good with some age related rubs through to lining. Key tool appropriately interfaces with locks for removal. Mechanically fine, bores very good, bright and smooth. Ejectors are strong and slightly out of time, right firing first.
