Rare and desirable 1851 Navy - Navy with an iron trigger guard and an iron backstrap. Single line barrel address on the top flat of the barrel, "-ADDRESS SAML COLT HARTFORD CT-". On the left side of the frame is, "COLT'S / PATENT L U.S. ". Matching serial numbers on the loading lever, barrel assembly, frame, wedge, cylinder, arbor, trigger guard and backstrap. Naval battle scene on the cylinder. There is a number 185 on the top flat of the barrel. SA Riley stamped on both sides of the barrel and a U.S.N. stamped on the butt. One piece varnished wood grips. The hammer and trigger have been replaced. CONDITION:This gun has no finish and has turned to a gray patina. The bore is dark and has some pitting in the well defined lands and grooves. The grips show wear and have some added varnish left on them. The Naval battle scene is warn.
