The inspector stamp on left side of frame is WGP for Walter Penfield (1912-1914 only) Left side of frame has the "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" legend. Right side of slide has the "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY" legend. Left side of slide has two line patent legend ending in Feb 14, 1911 along with Colt legend to the right. The pony is on left rear of slide. Standard blue finish with double diamond checkered walnut grips, checkered slide stop and safety, checkered wide spur hammer, flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop, long smooth trigger, small front sight and early rounded U-notch rear sight. The magazine has a lanyard ring. The barrel is a Springfield replacement. CONDITION: Very good. The frame retains about half its blue, dulling, high edge wear, handling and holster marks. The slide is all patina with sharp legends with note to the pony which is only partially visible. The grips show wear. commensurate with metal finish. The bore is lightly frosted.
