Made by Simeon North in Middletown, Connecticut, circa 1844-53. Features the long bar and ring on left side, near full-length walnut stock, two barrel bands, metal ramrod, small post front sight, and wind drift rear on receiver. Finish was brown lacquer and case color breech. Breech block is stamped with maker legend and dated 1845. Receiver has a JH inspector stamp for John Hannis. CONDITION: Very good. No visible original finish. Barrel has been cleaned in-the-white. The frame shows some spotting and light pitting. The stock has the JCB cartouche for Joseph Bragg and is near mint. While this cataloguer believes the stock to have age, the belief is that it was found and added to this carbine as it simply has no wear compared to metal. Bore is dark. Action works fine.
