Lot consists of: (A) High Grade M1850 foot officer's sword embellished by Tiffany & Co. New York. The sword features a bright blade adorned with stunningly detailed panels featuring patriotic and foliate motifs on each side. Obverse is marked "TIFFANY & Co / NEW YORK" above ricasso and stamped "COLLINS & CO. / HARTFORD / CONN. / 1862". Blade exhibits a light gray patina with scattered blemishes. Hilt with guard that features open work foliate scrolls and thick quillon. Tiered pommel with wood grip that is grooved and wrapped with high quality sharkskin. Twisted brass wire is accommodated by the grooves. Hilt exhibits a pleasing patina with surface wear to grip wrap. CONDITION: Very good. (B) Unmarked, imported M1850 Foot Officer's sword with triple etched blade that features a double fuller. Blade is decorated on each side with acid etched patriotic and foliate motifs. Spine with vine decoration. Blade exhibits a gray patina with scattered spotting. Hilt with brass guard that features open scrollwork and decorated tiered pommel. Grip is of wood that is grooved and wrapped with shagreen and twisted brass wire. Hilt exhibits a pleasing patina with handing wear. CONDITION: Good.
