Manufactured in 1863, fifth variation. Features fluted cylinder, spur trigger, and one piece varnished walnut grips. The unusual aspect of this revolver is that the last 1/2" of barrel is bored out to .36 caliber and has no rifling. The barrel does have a matching number, so the reason for this is somewhat a mystery; maybe a flaw was reamed out? The barrel does have the Colt legend. Comes with a letter stating gun was "liberated from German baron's hunting lodge in 1944 by member of the 166th combat engineer battalion". CONDITION: Excellent. Frame retains approximately 85% bright Colt blue. The cylinder is patina with bright blue in flutes. The barrel has flaked to patina. Barrel and cylinder legends are crisp. Action works fine. Bore is sharp
