Offered in 1979. The left side of the slide is stamped “Los Angeles Police Department Special Edition” in script while the right side is stamped “To Protect and To Serve”. These markings are surrounded by 24K gold engraved banner with floral scroll. The right side also has an LAPD badge, squad car and motorcycle with “COLT GOVERNMENT MODEL .45 CAL. HARTFORD, CT” on the bottom of the banner. The right side of the frame is marked “COLT PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.” Finish is a two tone blue with smooth wood grips and one magazine. There is a discreet import stamp at base. Accompanied by a Colt factory letter indicating that this gun was retained by the Colt factory as a sample piece before it was shipped to Greg Martin Auctions on October 16th, 2008. CONDITION: Excellent Shows as new with light handling. Bore is bright.
