Based on the Czech vz .33 Mauser carbine, relatively few were produced for the elite German Gebirgsjaeger mountain troops before manufacturing facilities switched over to standard K98 production in 1942. Fitted with a carbine length barrel, hooded blade front sight without ramp, and short 1000 meter tangent rear sight. Lightweight hollow bolt handle. Red glue laminate stocks with correct steel reinforcement plate on the left side to protect the rifle from damage during climbing. Otherwise standard milled mounts and cupped butt plate. Rifle includes a 1942 "dot" code bayonet with matching scabbard and a nice ink stamp marked "W. H. Stolto's Sohne" maker marked frog, as well as a nice cross hatch pattern leather sling. CONDITION: Good. Rifle retains portions of arsenal blued finish drifting to plum patina with some cleaned oxidation spots. Stock has scattered impressions. Strong bore with some cleaned abrasions. Fine mechanics. Bayonet rates very good and is unsharpened.
