Scare Mexican War era saddle seldom seen in any condition. Saddle has an 11 1/2" seat indicated with brass shield plaque, with brass molding and brass stirrups that bear "U.S." stamp on the bottom. Brown leather construction with jockeys, girth strap, and stirrup straps. The skirt appears to be a later addition to stabilize the saddle form. The Grimsley Artillery saddle was put into use as the M1832 Artillery Driver's Saddle through the Mexican War and was phased out during the mid-1850's. CONDITION: Good.
PATTERN 1832 GRIMSLEY ARTILLERY SADDLE.
