This gun built for US Government during WWI on the New Service frame but with a rougher factory polish and matte arsenal finish. Base of barrel is stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY". The butt is stamped "US ARMY MODEL 1917". Left side of frame has the "GHS" inspector stamp for Gilbert Stewart. There are several "M" and "H" sub inspector stamps. Grips are smooth two piece walnut with lanyard loop. Barrel has the two line Colt legend with Pony on left side. Comes with 1918 dated US holster. CONDITION: Excellent. Retains 85-90% factory finish with assorted high edge and muzzle wear. Grips are excellent. Action is fine. Bore is bright.
