Deeply rifled heavy octagon barrel with swamped muzzle, brass front blade sight, brass rear sight and top flat engraved "CL.F. 1795". Flat lockplate with beveled edges and dog lock mechanism. Features double-set-triggers and an iron provision just in front of comb for peep sight attachment. Finely engraved bone patchbox lid and a bone and ebony eight point star inlaid above cheekpiece on left side. Shaped brass triggerguard and sideplate, large faceted ramrod ferrules. Walnut stock with sling swivels. Extensive relief carving on left side of buttstock. CONDITION: Barrel retains a brown patina, markings excellent. Lock is in its original flintlock configuration and functions properly. Lock retains a grey patina. Brass has a dark patina. Stock shows scattered cracks, minor chips and marks from use. A sliver is replaced below the lock and a small piece in front.
