Nicholas Beyer worked in Lebanon, PA. This rifle features a two stage buck-and-ball barrel signed "N Beyer" in script on the top flat. Lock is Germanic. Classic Beyer furniture including four piece engraved patchbox with pelican in its piety finial. Toeplate terminates in a tulip. The figured tiger maple stock is of Lebanon, PA. form and has extensive relief carved scrolls on the left side of the buttstock. There are also relief scrolls around the barrel tang and shaped carved panels around the lock and sideplate. CONDITION: Barrel retains a light brown color and signature is excellent. Lock is a professional reconversion. Brass retains a pleasing dark mustard patina. Stock shows scattered marks from use, age cracks and minor losses. Some splinters replaced around lock and on right side of forend along barrel. A very attractive rifle.
