Octagon barrel with brass front blade sight and notched rear sight. Germanic lockplate with beveled edges and a molding at the tail. The brass furniture includes a large engraved four piece patchbox with horse head finial. Triggerguard and ramrod entry ferrule terminate in pointed thumbnail designs. Trigger has a decorative curl. The highly figured tiger maple stock is of classic Roman nose form with relief and incise carving on left side of buttstock. The cheekpiece is also carved with gadrooning. Shaped panels carved in relief around lock and sideplate, incised scrolls around ramrod entry ferrule and relief carving around tang. Complete with an old wooden ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel retains a mostly brown patina, one sight dovetail has been filled behind rear sight. Lock retains a brown patina and is a good professional reconversion. Brass retains a mellow mustard patina. Stock shows some scattered marks from use and a crack on both sides of forend towards nosecap. A very attractive rifle that needs a couple lock parts to be complete.
