For another similar example, see plate 153.31D-A on pg. 384 of "American Military Shoulder Arms: Volume II" by George D. Moller. This pattern is attributed to one of the Indian Department Contracts of Henry Deringer of Philadelphia in the 1812-1818 period. This untouched rifle features an octagon barrel stamped "H. DERINGER PHILA" on the top flat. The converted lockplate is also stamped "H. DERINGER / PHILA" in the center. Standard unengraved brass furniture and military type sideplate. Stocked in plain maple with a Roman nose profile. Complete with its original wooden ramrod. CONDITION: Completely as found and untouched. Dry attic condition showing some scattered marks from use and age cracks. Period repair to toe and toeplate is absent. A nice rare untouched rifle.
