This rifle has an octagon barrel inscribed "John * Moll" on the top flat. The flat lockplate has a partially visible "T / KETLAND" in the center. The brass furniture includes an ornate four piece engraved patchbox with stylized Moll flour-de-lis finial. There is an engraved silver star above the cheekpiece, an engraved silver Allentown Indian Head in front of the triggerguard finial and an engraved oval wrist escutcheon with initials "DW". The tiger maple stock is of classic early Lehigh County form. CONDITION: Barrel retains a grey patina with light pitting throughout, heavier at breech and clear replaced circle where drum once was. Lock is a reconversion and retains an applied brown finish. Brass retains a pleasing mustard patina. The front 29" of forend have been replaced. Stock shows scattered marks from use and some age cracks. Rear barrel key inlay on right side is missing.
