This York County, Pennsylvania rifle has a two-stage buck-and-ball barrel with front sights on top. Well-aged modern lock. The brass furniture includes a four-piece engraved brass patchbox with an edelweiss finial. The sideplate is also engraved. Figured tiger maple stock of York County form with relief-carved c-scrolls on left side of stock and a relief bellflower around the barrel tang. Relief panels around lock, sideplate, and ramrod entry ferrule. Complete with an old wood ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel retain a dark brown patina, some pitting at breech. The modern lock is aged to match and functions well. Brass retains a pleasing mustard patina, toeplate is a replacement. Stock shows some wear to carving and some small pieces of wood replaced around lock and a couple pieces on both sides just in front of ramrod entry ferrule. An attractive Golden Age rifle.
