This circa 1790-1810 rifle is perhaps made by Peter Neihart and features a rifled octagon barrel. Lock is a much later improper replacement. The rifle has fantastic Lehigh County form and is stocked in tiger maple. Brass two piece patchbox with some engraving. Lehigh sideplate terminating in the back with arrowhead. CONDITION: Barrel retains a brown patina, some corrosion at touchhole. Associated lock original flint and with light grey patina. Brass retains a mellowing patina, extra hole on sideplate in arrowhead. Stock shows some cracks and marks from use.
