This rifle was made by renowned contemporary Kentucky rifle maker Allen Martin. The rifled two-stage barrel signed "A + Martin" on the top flat. Early lock type with beveled edges and unbridled faceted pan. Early engraved brass Bucks County mounts. Figured tiger maple stock of early Bucks County form with relief-carved sliding wood patchbox lid. Stock profusely carved with classic early Bucks County designs and scrollwork. The original rifle this copy was made from sold at Morphy Auctions for $192,000 as lot 1142 on May 18, 2021 as part of the John Luke Estate. CONDITION: Well-aged finishes, shows little or no use. A beautiful bench copy by a desirable maker.
