Colt's tribute to the UNITED STATES NAVY features high polish blue on sides of slide with balance a matte finish. Right side features gold border with battle ship and stars. Left side reads "DONT GIVE UP THE SHIP" with image of three mast sailing ship. Grips are double diamond checkered walnut with gold Colt medallions. Hammer and screws are gold plated. Comes in wood display case with plaque of Marcus H. Schmidt, Commander U.S.NAVY RET. 1938-1974. Marcus Helmers Schmidt was born on 2 Aug 1914 in Virginia, Minnesota. He enlisted in the Navy in 1938 and trained at the Great Lakes in Chicago, Illinois. He served throughout the Pacific Theater during World War II and is listed with service assignments on the USS Ashtabula, USS Rigel, USS Fuller, and other vessels. He also served in the Korean War and retired as a Commander in 1974. Schmidt passed away on 19 Mar 1995. CONDITION: Excellent. Shows as near new with light handling. Gun has a discreet import stamp at well.
