Perhaps the most iconic of the Civil War carbines, this example in original configuration although showing considerable evidence of age and hard use. Carbine displays an overall gray patina with some spotting. Small blade front sight, the rear sight no longer present. Percussion action with primer. Walnut forend retained by a single iron band. Forend is missing a large section along the left side and appears to have been missing it for some time, possibly form use in the Civil War. Buttstock is fitted with an iron patch box and crescent butt plate. A small unknown carving also present on the right side. CONDITION: Near relic. Strong bore with abrasion throughout.
