In 1990, Smith & Wesson produced 3000 Magna Classic revolvers, 1,800 were high polish blued Model 29-5 and 1,200 polished stainless Model 629-3 revolvers. This gun features brilliantly polished stainless constructions, a "629 Magna Classic / 1 of 3000" laser engraved full lug 7 - 1/2" barrel, ramped gold bead partridge front sight, micrometer click rear, flash chromed target hammer and trigger, round butt 3 screw N frame, and finger grove Gonco Alves grips inset with S&W medallions. This interesting example does not fall within the standard MAG0001-MAG3000 serial number range, but falls within the standard circa 1989/1990 numbering. It is likely a pre-production or an overrun gun, the Standard Catalog listing 306 overrun guns sold in 1992. Consignor states this gun came from a former Smith & Wesson employee. A hardwood Smith & Wesson display case is also included. CONDITION: Excellent. Stainless exhibits a lustrous polish with a turn line and mild marks throughout. Grips show only faint handling. Crisp, mirror bore. Fine mechanics. Case has some scattered scrapes and nicks but displays well.
